Absolutely great!!

Review Submitted: 2017-05-18 15:48
All that I can say as well as for the appartement as for the host: Absolutely great !! In the appartement everything is as shown on the pictures. It was absolutly clean and the kitchen is equipped well. If you want to get an experience of typical lisbon life (beyond the tourist areas)- this place is perfect. Shops, supermarkets and restaurants around the corner. Bus- and tram-station (even the old traditional tram) only a 5-minute-walk away. A very quiet and absolutely safe area during the night.
In addition Paulo is a perfect host. After booking the appartement he provided me a lot and detailed information about what to do in Lisbon. Perfect preparation for that trip. He also offers a pick-up-service from the airport - a very comfortable service. And always when contacting him via airbnb he responded within a few minutes. Paulo is a very friendly host: He puts attention to his guests wellbeing but never bothers them.

Superb Apartment in a Wonderful Neighborhood

Review Submitted: 2016-12-12 18:08
I stayed in this fine apartment for about three weeks in October-November 2016, and enjoyed it very much. The apartment is spacious (enough room for four people to live comfortably), well-furnished and completely equipped with everything you will need. The building is very secure. This apartment is located in Campo de Ourique, a fine neighborhood that is known mainly to Lisboetas. Campo de Ourique has every service you might need and many fine restaurants with reasonable prices. Besides, it has one of the best markets in the city where you can buy meat, fish and produce to take to the apartment to cook and many types of food prepared to order which you can eat in the market or carry away. You will meet very few foreigners in Campo de Ourique.

Equally important, you will be dealing with Paulo Leitao who will respond promptly to any problem that arises with the apartment. Paulo knows all about Lisbon and will share his knowledge of the city with you. He will recommend interesting things to do and see depending on your interests. You can't go wrong by choosing this apartment.

Appartement spacieux dans un quartier tranquille

Review Submitted: 2016-08-31 16:52

On s'y sent bien.

Stay in a true Neighborhood for an Authentic Experience

Review Submitted: 2016-06-29 0:07
Expect to find comfortable, inviting accommodations with all you'll need for a wonderful stay. You can trust the photos and descriptions. But what we especially appreciated was the location in a neighborhood where we could enjoy local activities away from crowds of tourists. You have access to the start of Trolley 28, the best Pastel de Nata at Pastelaria Aloma (better than Belem:), delicious meals at Mercado de Campo de Ourique (the meat stall is excellent as is the wine stall), a charming local park including a kiosk with good burgers/drinks, and Prazeres Cemetery which is truly a unique and beautiful place to spend some time. The other huge bonus with this rental is your fantastic host, Paulo! He is more than willing to provide tons of info and genuine concern before, during and after your visit. Plus, it's a pretty great deal when you're picked up at the airport at no additional charge, shown around the neighborhood and offered help with your luggage! This rental covers all the bases and more... Enjoy!

Brilliant Apartment

Review Submitted: 2016-05-15 19:04
Paulo's apartment in Campo de Orique is lovely and we enjoyed our week there very much. The apartment is beautiful and very well equipped. Even better, it is away from the main tourist area in a lovely residential neighbourhood with a lovely park, excellent market, good restaurants and the best custard tarts in Lisbon. Paulo was a superb host - he picked us up from the airport, showed us around the neighbourhood and was unfailing kind and thoughtful - he even drove us to the airport at 3.15am to catch our flight out. Paulo also send us a lot of information about Lisbon before we arrived which was very helpful. We highly recommend the apartment and Paulo.

Incroyable mais vrai!

Review Submitted: 2016-04-25 21:00

Great New Year in Lisbon

Review Submitted: 2016-01-30 0:15
We spent a fabulous New Year's break in Lisbon. We came across Paulo's apartment via the Owner's Direct website. Paulo was extremely kind, friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for him and he even came to collect us from the Airport on our arrival (all included in the cost of the apartment) which we appreciated very much. The apartment was very well equipped (especially the kitchen) although the stairs to the bedroom on the first floor are not for the faint-hearted !! Campo de Ourique is great - very residential without tourists. We can't recommend it highly enough. It has some fantastic restaurants and we ate around here every night as the choice and quality was so good. Unfortunately, the weather was awful for most of the week (rainy and windy - well, it was the beginning of January !!) but we would definitely return to Lisbon when it was warmer and would be more than happy to stay at this apartment again.

A Lisbon Treasure

Review Submitted: 2016-01-08 17:16
When our apartment in Alfama turned out to be booked for part of the week, Paulo suggested we stay for 3 nights at another of his properties in a different part of town. We are glad we did. This apartment exceeded our needs with two bedrooms and two baths, even a little balcony. It was also spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Although part of the central city, we would never have found Campo de Ourique on our own. It is an early 20th century neighborhood with regular streets. Some of the apartment buildings have nice Art Deco details. Even better was Paulo himself. In 25 years of travel he is the best host ever (and the handsomest!). Paulo pointed out the best bakeries and the terminus of the famous #28 tram. There is also a fabulous market a few blocks away. We are very grateful that Paulo suggested this arrangement. It allowed us to experience two very different aspects of Lisbon. We are already making plans to return to this fascinating city. When we do, we will first ask Paulo if he has room for us before we even book our flight. James D. , Virginia, USA

Wonderful apartment at wonderful neighborhood

Review Submitted: 2015-12-01 22:16
It was pure serendipity to find Lisbonear.com when we were searching for an apartment to rent short term in Lisbon. The apartment we rented was wonderful - modern, clean, inviting, very comfortable - with a properly stocked kitchen for cooking in. It was also in a wonderful neighborhood with excellent transportation, including the start of the famousTram 28! But perhaps the best part was meeting our very kind host and landlord, Paulo, who went far beyond the call of duty to ensure that we knew our way around and had everything we needed, day or night. If you can handle the stairs to the 2nd floor, this is definitely the place to stay!

Campo de Ourique is a very vibrant, interesting and self-beating neighbourhood. Considered in November 2013 by the prestigious british magazine Monocle as Lisbon’s “best inner-city” neighbourhood, has its foundation back to 1879 and still keeps this feeling of a human scale neighbourhood, just like a city within the city.

Its heart is the Jardim da Parada (just 2 mn walking from the apartment), a large gardened square where parents relax chatting and drinking coffee at one of its open air terraces while their kids play around, surrounded by a couple of ice cream and chocolate shops, bakeries, cafes, a book store, a pharmacy, the taxis stop…

Campo de Ourique has one of the best daily markets in Lisbon, built in 1934 and recently rehabilitated. Along with a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and meat, nowadays is also plenty of restaurants, wine-shops and bars, delicatessen, sushi-bars, etc. Surely an every-day-must-stop.

The early 50’s neo-gothic style church of Santo Condestável (3 or 4mn walking from the apartment) has a few remarkable stained glass windows works of, probably, our best artist of the Portuguese modernism period, Almada Negreiros. In front of this church, you’ll find the stop of the famous tram 28 that will lead you straight to downtown, on a pleasant 15mn ride till Bairro Alto and Chiado and some 10mn more until the cathedral and Alfama.

Campo de Ourique is a superb location to explore Lisbon, close enough for easy access to the city’s major tourist attractions, buses, trams and subway at hand and the feeling of staying on a trendy but lively neighbourhood.
